If Congress cannot reach a consensus on the terms of a Continuing Resolution (CR) to fund the federal government by September 30, 2023, certain government agencies and functions will face a partial shutdown. The shutdown would encompass some federal housing, mortgage, and other programs relevant to the real estate industry. Essential services, such as postal operations, will be unaffected and continue to function normally to prepare those in the real estate industry for the potential impact. NAR has provided a summary of the impact on selected agencies. You can access the summary by clicking here. During this period of ongoing political shifts and developments on Capitol Hill, NAR’s staff remains vigilant in their efforts to monitor federal agencies and work with Congress, the Administration, and other groups. Please stay tuned for updates to NAR’s summary page, which will be revised as agencies release new contingency plans and details.
