Obituary for Martin Edwards, Jr.

Martin Edwards, Jr., a prominent member of the Memphis Area Association of REALTOR®, an active member of the Tennessee REALTORS®, and 2002 President of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR), passed away surrounded by family. With over 40 years in real estate, Martin was a visionary leader as President of Edwards Investments and an advocate for housing opportunities and disaster relief through his founding of NAR’s REALTOR® Relief Foundation after 9/11.

Known for his inspiring leadership under the theme “The Power of One,” Martin championed REALTORS®’ impact on housing policy and industry challenges. He held numerous roles in NAR, including Treasurer, CCIM Institute President, and Regional Vice President, earning honors such as NAR’s Outstanding Educator of the Year and REALTOR® of the Year at both local and state levels.

Beyond real estate, Martin served his Memphis community as chair of the Health, Education, and Housing Facility Board and as a trustee for the University of Memphis Foundation. His legacy of service, mentorship, and leadership leaves an enduring impact on the real estate profession and beyond. He will be deeply missed.
