OPENING SESSION/KEYNOTE

A professional variety comedian with numerous television and Las Vegas credits, Frank Miles died in a hang gliding accident and was revived by emergency room doctors. True courage—he came to realize—is not facing death in daredevil pursuits. True courage is facing life every day. After a full recovery, Frank left one successful career and embarked on another.  Using comic monologues, juggling, music, and magic, he brought to life simple ideas that help shatter the self imposed limits of fear. The response has been tremendous. Frank is now a sought after speaker-entertainer, and his keynote presentation “Laugh at Fear!” has been honored with laughter and standing ovations from crowds as large as 15,000 people.

INSPIRATIONAL BREAKFAST

In 1993, Sgt. Keni Thomas was deployed to Somalia with Bravo company of the 3rd Ranger Battalion as part of special operation Task Force Ranger to find and capture criminal warlord Mohammed Farrah Aideed. Sgt. Thomas and his fellow rangers distinguished themselves in an 18-hour fire fight that would be recounted in the book and movie Blackhawk Down. 19 Americans died and 78 were wounded in the worst urban combat seen by US troops since WWII. Keni left the Army to pursue music and now works full time as an award-winning Nashville recording artist. His band Cornbread was featured in the movie Sweet Home Alabama and regularly tours with the USO to perform for our military personnel. As an entertainer, Keni has been recognized by Congress and the White House. He was inducted into the VFW Hall of Fame for his work on behalf of veterans and military families. His bestselling book Get it On! is the story of extraordinary individuals and how lessons learned under fire can inspire us all daily.
