Update/Memo
Ramsey, Farrar, Russell & Smith was honored to join REALTORS® from across Tennessee for Virtual Days on the Hill last week. During the successful week, REALTORS® heard from Lt. Gov. McNally, House Speaker Cameron Sexton, Senate Republican Caucus Chairman Ken Yager, Senate Democratic Caucus Chairman Raumesh Akbari, and Senate Democratic Leader Jeff Yarbro. REALTORS® from every region of the state attended 86 virtual meetings with their senators and representatives.
Thanks to strong support from REALTORS®, HB605, which allows for a commission to be paid to a cooperate entity, passed unanimously through House Business & Utility Subcommittee is moving to full Commerce Committee in both Chambers.
Of note, SB459/HB177, which authorizes property managers to bring suit or testify against tenants in the same manner as landlords or owners of rental property, will be heard in both House and Senate Commerce this week.
Also, HB43, which prohibits law enforcement from entering private property to engage in surveillance or set up surveillance equipment unless the officer has obtained a search warrant or a judicially recognized exception to the warrant requirement exists, will be heard in House Criminal Justice Subcommittee this week. Our team is meeting with committee members in support of this legislation.
As always, below is a comprehensive bill track and a committee schedule for this week.
